The Gift of Nature’s Bounty: Learn to Forage and Grow Your Own Food
Season’s greetings, fellow foragers and living-off-the-landers!
One of the most common questions I receive is, “Do you have a foraging or mushroom-hunting course?” Well, finally the answer is yes! Although it’s not my own course, it’s one I trust wholeheartedly and have taken myself, and I’m thrilled to share it with you this holiday season.
Foraging Information on FunGalForager.com:
While I do occasionally host live foraging workshops, the unpredictability of nature doesn’t always align with scheduled class dates. That’s why I offer free information on my website year-round, to make sure you have access to foraging content even when I’m off exploring the woods or things aren’t in season.
But between foraging time, family life, work, and creating online foraging guides, I haven’t had time to create a thorough video foraging course, which I think is the next best thing to an in-person, hands-on workshop. That will happen someday, but until then, I’m delighted to share this great resource:

In case you haven’t seen them yet on TikTok or Instagram, let me introduce Jordan and Silvan, the dynamic duo behind Home Grown Hand Gathered: They’re a knowledgeable couple known for their in-depth and entertaining content about living off homegrown and wild food. They’ve designed a couple of comprehensive courses: The Complete Guide to Foraging Your Own Food and the Living off the Land Package and they’ve generously extended a discount to my readers.
Course Highlights:

Their well-crafted online foraging experience covers identification, harvesting, and cooking wild foods sustainably. With each module, Jordan and Silvan walk you through more than 30 staple wild foods, providing insights into identification, when, where, and how to harvest safely, and how to prepare or preserve your finds.
While they live and forage in the eastern United States, the species they cover can be found widely across North America. I’ve found and enjoyed at least 24 of them (like blackberries and staghorn sumac) right here in the Treasure Valley or the nearby mountains.

Hi Krista,
I’m interested in learning how to forage food in Idaho. I was wondering if the offered courses give you areas in the Treasure Valley or McCall, Donnelly, or Cascade areas?
I am interested in the course but want to ensure it gives approx. times to forage for the species that are in season. I am a beginner and interested in Perma farming and foraging. I would love to be a part of a community of like-minded individuals. I was wondering if you could also lead me in the direction of meeting up with groups.
Hi Robin,
Thanks for your comment! I replied to your questions directly via email. ~Krista
